Privacy at Mockingboard

Mockingboard turns playlists you already love into new ones, and sends them to your Apple Music library. This page says what we keep about you, who else sees it, and what you can do about it.

What we keep
- Your account: your email address and a scrambled form of your password. We never keep the password itself.
- Your Apple Music connection: the keys Apple gives us to read the playlists you choose and to write new ones into your library. They are encrypted where they are stored. We never see your Apple password.
- The playlists you choose: the songs and artists in them, kept so each new night can be built from the same starting point.
- What we made for you: every programme and every night, the songs in it, and the notes written about it.
- What you told us: songs and artists you removed or blocked, and how you set the controls.
- Your station settings: when it airs and in which time zone.
- Server records: the times you used the app and what it did for you, kept for a short period by our hosting company.
We do not keep your listening history from Apple Music, your location, or anything from your device beyond the browser storage described below.
Why we keep it
To build your programmes and put them in your library, to bring you back in when you sign in or forget your password, and to send you the emails you asked for, such as a note when a night airs. Nothing here is sold, and nothing is used for advertising.
Who else sees it
Mockingboard cannot work alone. These are the companies involved, what each one receives, and why:

We tell you about Anthropic inside the app as well, before the first night is made, and ask for your agreement there.
How long, and how to make it stop
For as long as your account exists. When you delete your account in Settings, everything above is erased at once: your programmes, your nights, your settings, your Apple Music connection. Playlists already written to your Apple Music library are yours and stay there. Public music data we looked up along the way, which says nothing about you, is kept.
What you can do
In Settings you can download a copy of everything we hold about you, change your email address or password, disconnect Apple Music, and delete your account. You can also write to us at the address above.
In your browser
Mockingboard sets one cookie to keep you signed in and one to remember your language. It also keeps a little of your control-board state in your browser so the page opens where you left it. No advertising or tracking cookies, and no analytics service.
Children
Mockingboard is not for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly keep information about children.
